The 11th IDBF Club Crew Dragon Boat World Championships, to be held in Szeged on 17-22 July, is expected to generate about 50,000 guest nights at domestic hotels and other accomodations, organizers and government officials said.

The sporting event is expected to attract 6,200 competitors from 29 countries, according to Péter Járosi, president of the Hungarian Dragon Boat Association. The total number of participants, including members of the jury and other team members, is scheduled to reach nearly 7,000, he said.

Competitors and other participants will spend 9-10 nights in Hungary in average and many will also spend a day in Budapest, Járosi said. Hotels and other types of accommodations in Szeged, Makó and Mórahalom are already fully booked for the date of the event, he added.

The world championships has received Ft 120 million in government subsidies to partially cover organization costs, Péter Sárfalvi, deputy state secretary at the Ministry of Human Capacities, said.
