Szigetvár in southwest Hungary is planning to build a new visitor center and a recreational park next to the city's castle and thermal bath by the middle of 2019, officials have announced.

The planned new visitor center would include a tourist information system and a playhouse for kids, while the park would feature a large tent for events and two viewing areas of 150 seats each, according to Gábor Gálosi, project manager and consulting company MSB.

The developments are expected to cost Ft 670 million in total, to be mostly financed from European Union subsidies. The government has earmarked about Ft 3.2 billion for other developments in Szigetvár in the coming years.
