The domestic tourism sector continued expanding in February, with the number of guest nights increasing by 9% in average compared to the same period last year.

The number of international guest nights rose by 7.4% to about 777,000, while domestic guest nights were up by 11% at more than 784,000 in February compared to a year earlier, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office.

 

Total gross revenues of domestic accommodation providers also increased by 12% in February. Average occupancy of hotels increased by 3.1 percentage points year-on-year to 50.9%, the statistics office said.
