Antal Rogán, head of the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister, will be responsible for most tourism and hospitality policies in Viktor Orbán's new government, a decree has reiterated.

Rogán will oversee policies affecting several areas, including tour operators and rural and medical tourism, and will be also responsible for drawing up concepts for tourism development and financial frameworks. He will manage domestic and international tourism marketing activities.

Other government officials will be also involved in tourism. Gergely Gulyás, the new minister of the Prime Minister's Office, will help co-ordinate urban development projects and international sports events affecting tourism in Budapest in cooperation with Rogán and the city's mayor.

Foreign minister Péter Szijjártó will oversee the activities of tourism diplomats working abroad, while the Economy Cabinet, led by finance minister Mihály Varga, will have executive power to make decisions in tourism and hospitality.

Tourism was overseen by the Ministry of National Development, led by outgoing minister Miklós Seszták, in the previous government.
