The Visegrad Four countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, are considering building a high-speed rail link to connect major cities in the V4 group.

The V4 countries will join forces to complete a feasibility study of a potential high-speed rail service connecting Budapest and Warsaw through Bratislava and Brno, Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó said following a ministerial meeting of the four states.

The maximum speed of the possible future rail service is expected to exceed 250 km/h, Szijjártó said. He said the Hungarian government is contributing Ft 1.5 billion to the costs of the feasibility study, which should be completed by next fall.
